A wonderful stop on my selfdrive tour around Arran on 6th July 2015. The Lochranza Castle is very easy to find, and easy to access. It is great for all ages and all types of weather, snowing might make it a little more errie. Everyone has seen those postcards of the herd of deer walking past the castle I am... More

We had a great visit to the castle, it was quiet when we went so had the place to ourselves to explore! It is a ruin but you can climb some stairs and explore easily using the helpful signs on the walls explaining different parts of the building. The castle sits at the side of the water against a beautiful... More

I went to Arran in early April for one week, seeking solitude. Arran is a very special area and I found my stay very restful. I was surprised by the dramatic landscape of the north, which is mountainous , verdant with trees, glens , streams and a stunning rocky coastline. Lochranza is very quiet with the castle perched at the... More

The castle itself isn't much more than a ruin but it's the location that's the real winner here. Lochranza is a stunning village and the castle is on a bit of land out towards the bay surrounded on 3 sides by water. Sheep and sometimes deer roam around. You can get really close by car if accessibility is an issue... More

The location cannot be beaten and the castle is a very short walk from a small car park. You can go inside which is a real treat as you can explore the ruins. While it could be a very short visit there are plenty of benches for you to sit and take in the beautiful scenery.

Went here for a wee visit. It was closed as it's not summer opening yet. Beautiful to look at. Beautiful views all around it. Also saw some deer eating in front of the houses.
