A small exhibit on the ground floor details the responsibilities and activities of Trinity House. The guided tour of the upper levels lighthouse involving climbing the 155 stairs is highly recommended although not for the faint hearted.

I had always been interested to visit Portland Bill since it is easily recognisable on the UK map. The walk around the southern Portland peninsula is spectacular, with amazing rock formations that would be of interest to any amateur geologist.

Only in the shop ( typical & hypocritical) Not allowed up the stairs, nor will they watch over your pet. Rubbish. Left after an hour’ s walk without climbing it.
