A 6 mile rewarding South West Coast Path walk through 5000 years of history, including travelling above the coastline along the South Dorset Ridgeway, a Stone Age route peppered with archaeological remains. Below, St Peter's Abbey was a fifth century holy site. Subtropical gardens, a swannery and a fourteenth century chapel add to the many charms of the picturesque village of Abbotsbury.

Incomparable views along this stretch of the southwest coastal path. We've walked this in all weathers with companions of varying ages and levels of fitness. It has its challenging aspects - steep climb up to St Catherine's chapel and the foot-slogging effort of shingle on...More

Be prepared for lots of hills but scenery is lovely. The paths are well tended. Stop off at beach cafe for an ice cream or coffee and take in the amazing views

Parking at Bullers Way car park was £3 for an all day ticket. The onsite toilets there were clean and basic. Signs to the coastal path weren't present in the car park - we turned left (eastwards) as soon as we arrived at the shingle...More

A fantastically beautiful coastline with beautiful scenery all around. Wonderful to see swans in their natural environment as well.

Walked along this beautiful coast for 5 hours in lovely sunshine from Abbotsbury to West Bexington at sea level and back to Abbotsbury along the top of the escarpment. Better than being abroad!

As far as our eyes could see, beautiful English countryside. Lush greens surrounded us. Perfect for taking a long walk with our energetic working cocker spaniel.

We felt like we were the only people on top of the whole world! Fantastic views over the glistening sea and colourful spring fields. A fabulous walk to blow away the winter blues.

Parked up and had a gentle stroll to the beach. The route is not well signposted until you're on top of the posts marking the way.

We choose to walk the ridgeway over the coastal route on the South west coastal path. After the climb up from West Bexington it was mainly a flat walk with good going and great views . 17 miles to Osmington Mills but only took us...More

Hi, not sure how far you want to walk but we have recently walked this beautiful stretch. I really recommend the inland alternative route on the south Dorset ridgeway. Catch a bus (going towards Bridport ) at the west end of... More
