An easy, gentle 2.3 mile stroll from Exmouth along the eastern bank of the Exe Estuary, whose mudflats, sandbanks and marshes are of international importance for their wildlife, especially the tens of thousands of resident and migratory waterbirds. Look out for avocets, curlews and lapwings, even seals and otters, and buzzards wheeling overhead. Take time to explore Lympstone before catching the train back to Exmouth.

This walk links Exmouth to Lympstone c.3k : It is a recent innovation allowing the walker a leisurely stroll along the estuary that roughly follows the train line : it is compatible for dogs and cyclists - although on scarce occasions the two competing users...More

Aways love this walk as great views and paths reasonably maintained. Could.do with aome on bikes slowing down a bit as there are elderly and kids use this. Also the odd selfish dog walker thinking it ok to leave there dogs mess for others to...More

The walk is also open to dog walkers and cyclists so you have to keep your eyes and ears open . a bit steep in places but a wonderful walk. The views are great and many benches to sit down on the way.

This is a great facility for all users, tarmac all the way. Lots of cyclists as you would expect and quite busy the first time we walked it on a sunny Sunday. Yes I'd agree that the cyclist are a bit of a nuisance when...More

This is a great path for cyclists or walkers. Right along by the estuary with superb views across the water at any time of the year or day, with lights set into the path for guidance at dusk or in the dark. Can continue all...More

This provides a great cycle ride which is flat most of the way. It takes you through some lovely villages between Exmouth - Exeter. I was staying the night in Exmouth so did Topsham and back which was just enough. The views were fantastic and...More

Initially you have to walk along the pavement along the roadside but then the path takes you away from this. The path is shared by cyclists but its generally very safe for walkers as cyclists are very respectful. The views across the estuary are amazing,...More

The path is tarmac throughout, with poo bins for keeping the path clean and refreshments in Exmouth and at A la Ronde, if you are energetic or have an electric bike. The views over the Exe estuary are breath-taking so take your camera.

Nice walk that follows the railway line along a tarmac cycle path. Gets quite busy with cyclists at times. Lovely views of the estuary.

Mainly flat and off-road but you share the wide tarmac path with plenty of cyclists so stay to one side! Well signed and plenty of noticeboards explaining the nature and landscape. Some opportunities to cross the (lightly used) railway line and walk along the literal...More
