Very interesting. Worth a visit.

The museum shows the history of the prison as well as prisoners work (both craft and paintings). Lots of interesting things to see which cover past history up to today.

Loved it. Lots of interesting items to look at, and video areas where you can watch and listen to them. Going out into the yard, old quarry exhibit, and prison cell leave an imprint. Thoroughly enjoyed this and it was our second time.

Whole area looked deserted.museum closed and sign on gate said closed due to unforseen circumstances. Sad, as my dad had done prisoner escort from Pentonville so would have been interesting. It was a sunny day but very grim as expected

Visited on numerous occasions with family, friends and work. Well worth a visit and never cease to be amazed by the ingenuity of inmates or the punishments of previous generations.

Decided to take the kids her on a winters afternoon. We have driven past the prison and museum many times but never stopped. It is bigger than expected but has a lot of information. The kids even had a quiz to do answering questions as they went around. Lots of history on our doorstep

Have wanted to visit here many times but either closed or not enough time. Took one of our adult children and their grand parents. My father was a Prison Officer at Ashwell Prison so knew something about the prison system. They even had a shield from Ashwell that brought back vivid memories. The display of uniforms that I remember my... More

.The museum, although it should have been open, was sadly closed. On then visiting the National Park Centre we were informed that the Museum would be closed for the foreseeable future. There is fortunately plenty in the National Park Centre to keep you interested.

We called into the Dartmoor prison museum whilst travelling around Dartmoor and taking in the beautiful scenery, It was so interesting we really enjoyed our time there and would defiantly recommend stopping to visit if you are planning a trip to Dartmoor.

this is a great place to visit, especially with kids that sometimes think that getting into trouble is fun,,,after reading through the history of the prison, you get to look at all the artifacts of all descriptions and sizes, from uniforms of the warders to the clothes of the inmates,,to the tools and weapons that have been made by prisoners to either escape... Very interesting place to visit with plenty of information. Have never visited a prison Museum before. Princetown is such a lonely bleak place you can really feel how awful it must have been to have been incarcerated on Dartmoor. Well worth a visit
