We went on Memorial Day weekend and one of the park rangers, along with several volunteers, gave a cannon salute and a presentation on the background of Memorial Day that was very informative. The view as you walk through the park is beautiful. There are also trails that wind through the woods and on the side of Lookout Mountain. They... More

Point Park is a unit of the Chickamauga Chattanooga National Military Park located on the top of Lookout Mountain. The entrance fee is only $5 for ages 16 and up and the views are worth every penny. They are located across the street from the Battles for Chattanooga Museum (nice 25-minute presentation) and the National Park Service Visitors Center. The... More

We visited this place on May 23rd. There is free parking behind the visitor center of the National Park Service. Inside the center is the painting "Battle above the clouds". Outside you have to pay admission ($5, no discount for non-US military) to go to the Ochs Memorial Observatory were you have a good view of the Tennessee River. Be... More

If you're interested in Civil War history you must visit Point Park. There's cannons throughout the park, outstanding views of the city and a solemnness when pondering the events that took place here around 150 years ago. Read the signs as they describe troop movements that occurred below. At the north end of the park, take the path down to... More

It's always interesting to my wife and I to tour points of history and this location, though small, was full of it. There were numerous displays explaining what occurred at this site during the Civil War and the view from the park was incredible. We are National Park life members which made it even that much more enjoyable.

This was the location of one of the most influential battles of the Civil War, a turning point before Gen. Sherman went on to torch Atlanta. It is very scenic and has great views of Chattanooga as well as many cannons and Och's Musuem. Lots of great places to take pictures and leads on to trails on the mountain. Make... More

We visited on a day exactly the same as when this battle took place. Rainy, foggy, and cold, the conditions mirrored what they experienced and as we walked, the ghosts of both sides walked with us. Start with the museum located across the street as it has very interesting, historic and informative facts to give the overall view. Then walk... More

We spent an hour here with family and friends. Children's ages were 15, 9, and 4. The 15 and 9 year old loved the history and the 4 year old loved running around. If we were only with our teenager we would have hiked to the Cravens house.
