The Golden Hind in Brixham Harbour, is one of only two full sized replicas in the world of 16th century explorer and privateer Sir Francis Drake's famous ship. The Ship has been a feature of picturesque Brixham harbour for over fifty years, entertaining and educating thousands of visitors during this time - as well as being featured on many tv programmes and films. The Ship is open come rain or shine and is an all weather attraction with many indoor displays as well as wide open decks and on-board activities.

We had 2 men with learning disabilities with us. When we went to go on the assistant double checked it would be accessible for them because of the stairs etc. Once onboard she chatted to them and gave them the children's treasure map to follow...More

Great place to spend time and learn a little bit about the history as well. Plus once you have paid you can return for another look. Kids love finding the skulls and getting their certificate. Replica ship albeit somewhat smaller but it gives you an...More

This ship replaced an earlier one which sank at sea. That one had a bit of history as it was used in the TV series Sir Frances Drake during the 1960's. This hastily put tegether replacement is a bit cruder and less detailed. Still it...More

Great bit of English history in a lovely location in Brixham Harbour. Really friendly guides / staff and a pleasure to look around. Not many people on there though with quite a few moaning about the price, £7 adults £5 children. Drop the price a...More

Trip back in time this was for me, not too pirate times but to my youth. Remember visiting when I was a nipper, trip down memory lane visiting as an adult with girlfriends son. Great fun, and educational.

Took my daughter on board & she thoroughly enjoyed it. Searching for skulls in the exhibits to get her certificate, walking the plank, climbing up to the poop deck & down to the fo'c'sle to see where they would have kept their animals. Good fun...More

We visited on a very wet Brixham day but never the less the museum ship was full of interesting facts about how the Golden Hind played a part in our history. Upon leaving a member of staff enquired if we were on a long visit...More

Interesting for children and adults, staff very friendly, and dressed as pirates to engage with the children. Children received a certificate if they 'walked the plank '. Gift shop on board, reasonably priced.

Cost £18 for a family of 4. We were on on it for about 15 minutes. Quite disappointed with what there was to look at and the staff seemed to hurry people on and off as quickly as possible.

I don't know for certain but I would guess no. the ship has steep ladders, I think it would be extremely difficult. However the staff were very helpful so perhaps see if you can contact them via the website to ask the... More
