Lovely long clean beaches, gentle waves to beach, but very strong into the rocky areas. Had snack in cafe on cliff overlooking Burgh island (where Episode of Poirot was filmed) accessed by sea tractor, try the little pub. Bigby on sea well worth a visit,...More

We were staying in near Challaborough Bay close to Bigbury and easily walkable from our park although is steep in places. We were told allow 2 hours either side of high tide to get back and anyway tractor can be used when tide is in....More

Came here on a very grey cold September morning and surprised to see lots of room in the car park. Other reviews have bemoaned the cost of parking but I feel for the facilities here for a full day if required, and the opportunity to...More

Although completely out in sticks Bigbury is wonderful. Great for walking or sitting if the weather is ok. There is a small cafe at the top of the car park which serves a great cup of coffee. Sadly there is no shop anywhere in the...More

This is a lovely stretch to walk your dogs on and go over to Burgh island and look back on the coastline. I would recommend you take food and drinks as you cannot rely on the pub or cafe being open.

I have always wanted to visit the hotel on Burgh island, being a huge Agatha Christie and Art Deco fan. I was so excited about going across to the island. We boarded the sea tractor and made our way across only to find we couldn't...More

As above. During the off-season dogs are allowed onto the beach. This also applies to the beach at Wembury, near Plymouth. For all year dog access to a beach I can recommend Thurlstone beach, access through Thurlsetone... More
