We visited La Mare recently and had to pay £9.25 for entry - there was no option to go the restaurant or shop without paying this entry fee. There should be a system in place where you pay for the wine tour and tastings and then receive a discount if you buy wine or produce - and if you buy... More

The day we visited it was extremely wet ! Consequently we only got to see the inside workings of the wine. Nevertheless it was very interesting and informative. Wouldn't have thought there was so much info about how to make wine and cider. Great samples of wine and the Jersey speciality of Black Butter and salted caramel were smashing. Really... More

We did the tour today and wine tasting and found it to be a very relaxed and enjoyable day walking around this beautiful estate. Highly recommended.

The tour, although short, was very interesting. A small walk around the vines and then a small tour of the factory. At the end was the wine tasting, not a specialty of mine but it was interesting. Lastly, they leave you in the shop and we purchased a few things. Little disappointed in the milk chocolate back home as it... More

Really nice guided tour of the winery led by Graham who was very engaging and entertaining. The wines lack depth and character but are perfectly drinkable. Their distilled liquor, gin and brandy, on the other hand are excellent and well worth purchasing as are their chocolate, black Jersey butter and fudge products. We had walked there from Bonne Nuit Bay... More

A birthday treat for the wife we decided to visit La Mare Vineyard. We went on the tour with tasting (why would you visit and not!!!) Very informative guide showed us the process from grape to bottle including tasting of a white, rosé, red and a liqueur. Also chocolate and fudge. You can try preserves, mustard and black butter. Only... More

This place used to have a decent restaurant and shop that you could visit without doing the tour. Now they make you pay £5 to access the place (even if you just want to pop in for a coffee). We obliged but the food in the cafe now only consists of sandwiches / cold platters and there is nothing else... More

We missed the intro for the tour and only joined when the vines were being shown. However we still found the tour of interest. I had never thought about the various processes and time involved in the making of wine, brandy etc and found myself doing sums in my head and it became clear to me why good alcohol costs... More

Excellent tour with our guide Rex , thoroughly enjoyed his stories. The wines were really good and the chocolate delicious. The estate is in a beautiful setting with lovely walks. The shop has a good selection of local produce and we enjoyed a superb lunch of crab sandwiches . Worth a visit.
