Martin added so much more color to the experience of this ancient site. The almost 3 hour tour just flew by due to Martin's interesting antidotes and poetic stories. Anyone who does what we would normally do, just walk around alone and take pics and leave, would miss out on one of the best experiences in Ireland. Very good value... More

My husband and I booked a guided walking tour with Martin in advance of our arrival in Ireland. As sometimes happens with travel plans, things did not go precisely to schedule and our flight was delayed for nearly 4 hours. Once we finally landed in Dublin, we somehow missed the first turn and ended up navigating city center traffic during... More

We had a bus tour from Dublin and went to the west coast, then down around Ring of Kerry and south and up through Wicklow, saw ALOT of Ireland. For me, along with Blarney castle and Bunratty banquet, this was another big highlight of our tour. Stunning views and the history was so interesting and really added to the ambiance... More

Martin was our first of many guided walks in Ireland, it was hard not to compare all the others to our fantastic experience with Martin. I would recommend this tour to anyone in Glendolough, you will not be disappointed. This was our first trip to Ireland and Martin explained the history of the area of Glendolough and Ireland as a... Our family of seven people booked a tour with Martin several months before we traveled to Ireland for our holiday. We could not have picked a better person to introduce us to not only The ruins and local history of Glendalough but also the history of the area and in Ireland in general. We enjoyed the banter and the way... More

Martin Swords is the Glendalough Whisperer. Martin's walking tour of this historic site is a wonderful way to learn and enjoy your stay. He is very knowledgeable and willing to discuss other topics while on the tour. Reasonable price of 25 euros per person.

I had the opportunity for a wonderful guided walk with Martin Swords at Glendalough today. It was a Monday and crowds were light. Martin was delightful and incredibly informative about the history of Ireland, the St Kevin's monastery and the pilgrimages here, the specific history of this area, info on flora and fauna and the more recent Irish events. It... More

I contacted Martin in advance of my trip to Ireland and explained to him that I'd be travelling alone and wouldn't have a car. Martin went above and beyond and even picked me up where I was staying. In my email to Martin, I mentioned to him the sights that I wanted to see in the area as well as... More

Our afternoon at Glendalough was made all the more enjoyable thanks to Martin's deep knowledge of the area's rich history, Irish culture, literature, and religious traditions. His terrific sense of humor and warm personality were icing on the cake. The ideal way to see this beautiful spot in Ireland and to make a new friend.
