I bought one of Malachy Kearns' Bodhrans in 1987 and I can say it has stood the test of the time very well. In all those years it has travelled with me twice around the world from warm climates with high humidity as Tahiti to colder humid climates such as the South of New Zealand and extremely dry ones such... We have visited here many times over the years. Come and see Bohdruns made as well as other instruments. Have a go at playing something new! Cafe attached. I must say though, we called by expecting it to be closed, being March. No one was in and we didn't stay long. My complaint is that my husband was desperate for... More

Visited the shop after followings signs for the monastery. There was no monastery, just the remnants of a tower but headed into the shop anyway. The shop was large and had plenty of gifts / clothes / musical instruments and would provide plenty of browsing if that was your interest. As noted by other reviews the shop did have a... More

This is where the heartbeat of Irish music comes from. The Bodhran provides the beat and some of the finest in the land are made here in Roundstone. They have an amazing selection to suit any ablility from decorative wall hanging, beginner, intermediate or professional player. All made right there in the shop. I was lucky enough to meet Mrs.... I really don't know what the people complaining about this lovely shop are going on about. I guess it proves the old adage that you get out of an experience what you put on as we have always found Malachy and the other craftspeople to be delightful, patient and happy to go out of their way to help. I understand... More

Thank You for Your kind honest review. I notice Aug seems to peak with miserable like reviews. ,, eg ' looks like 1980's shop'. We are a craft workshop and our craft please God will never change ,, it's not meant to. Anyway it's bewildering how one answers some comments. eg ' nothing to see ' ,, eh ,,, free... More

I travelled with four friends, one of whom had specifically wanted to go to Roundstone to buy a bodhrán, as she's a music teacher who works with ethnic instruments a lot. The shop smells incredibly musty and dusty, and seems incredibly out of date, as if it was stuck in the 1980's, as shown by the plethora of VHS and... More

This is not a nice shop. It is damp and musty. There are do not touch the merchandise signs all over the place. The owner shouted at my teenager daughter and told her not to try on the baseball caps. She was extremely rude. A very strange and unwelcoming place.

Hi. It's very uplifting to read your positive comments. Since I married Gifty , my Ghanaian Black wife , I notice a pattern in Aug Esp of nasty untrue comments about my shop /staff.
