Visited here for a few Nicaragua gifts. The markets shops are very similar but prices differ between the stalls quite a bit if you can be bothered shopping around for something that takes your fancy. There is also not a lot of bartering that can be done, prices seem quite fixed. Managed to pick up a few lovely gifts. Good... More

We had 30 minutes to shop after lunch during our one day trip to Nicaragau from Costa Rica. That was plenty of time. One shop ran into another with much of the same items. I was disappointed. Around the area are sellers that badger and follow you. This was not a highlight of the trip.

You can skip the market as far as I am concernced, you only get to see touristic stuff you also find in Granada.

There is repetitive objects in most of the little shops and where I browsed in other areas of Nicaragua. There are a few hidden gems, though, if you have the patience to look more closely and spend time talking to the proprietors. I found a small and lovely piece of craft-art that was easily wrapped in T-shirts for the trip... More

The building is really amazing, like a castle. The shops are all well-maintained and pretty. Low-stress place, unlike some of the other crafts markets I have visited.

If you want to buy ceramics, go to one of the artisan villages or one of the community artisan places as there you see pots being made & they explain the whole process. You also have a lot more choice in terms of style, size and cost. As for the hammocks, whilst they are very pretty, you can buy them... More

this market had a lot of local goods, foods and crafts, and wasnt obnoxious in its sales. Shopkeepers were courteous but didnt follow you around or nag you to buy something.

People typically come here to buy gifts for loved ones and run into the Cigars thinking they are authentic brands. I'm sorry to say they are not. DO NO BUY Cohiba, Joya de Estelí and other brands here, they are fake. The only Store that has true Cigars is "CREATIVIDAD ingenio manos Nicaragüenses" they sell real Joya de Nicaragua and... More

The Masaya Crafts Market has an excellent variety of artesania handicrafts available in Nicaragua in one location. Be aware that many of the woven crafts are actually from Guatemala. There are few tourists actually staying in Masaya and most of the shoppers are from visiting groups. When there are no visiting tour groups the market is quite empty. In the... More
