Wonderful memorial to those who fought in the various wars and lost their lives. A grave reminder that our freedom is not free, many have paid the price. We were humbled and very touched by the memorial.

This is simply a statue of a confederate soldier, a memorial to all from Dyer County who fought in the war. A dcent setting in the courthouse square. A good place to reflect on the losses of war.

I like seeing history preserved. This monument has been in Dyer County for several years. I live away now and when I return we always take time to get a picture

The monument is a part of the court house square and shares a part of the local history. To really learn about some of the culture of the past, you need to see it from both sides.

Just to realize the dedication that people have in trying to preserve a way of life, a culture and their forefathers makes one stop and stand in awe of such good craftsmanship and purpose in the monument.

There are many, many small town courthouse lawns across the South decorated with a Confederate monument, similar to the one in Dyersburg. This monument is not to any one person, but to all Dyer County Confederate soldiers. It is decorated with the names of major...More
