This was lots of fun. We took a ride on the Tennessee River on a catamaran at 50 MPH. The ride was thrilling with a guide who pointed out local history and wildlife. This was very enjoyable. Once up stream, the ride was a much slower pace where we could go topside and relax with the beautiful Tennessee scenery.

Enjoyed the two hour Chatanooga River Gorge Catamaran tour. It was informative. We had accidental booked our tickets for the wrong day and showed up today to take the tour. CAPT Kyle had us wait to assure he was not fully booked. We were able to board and take the boat tour as he had just enough room for us!... More

The TN River Gorge Explorer was educational & even fun thanks to our tour host (John Dever) who obviously cares deeply for the area, has a wonderful dry humor coupled with the ability to laugh at himself & a gentle patience with children (& parents).

We took a 5:30 trip on the explorer. It is an enclosed tour boat that goes over 50 mph. The 2 hour round trip goes from Ross's landing toward Raccoon Mountain. It does some stretches at top speed but slows down when it encounters boat traffic or residential sections. It's a jet boat so it can start and stop very... More

We found the River Gorge Explorer to be a fun afternoon. Knowledgeable naturalist focused on wildlife, history, and conservation. The boat was unique and made the trip fun. Would be a good expeeience for children.

If its a big deal to you to just ride in a boat, then this one is for you. The sudden stops with the water flying up was the highlight. If you are interested in the wildlife they advertise, you will be seriously disappointed. Our guide was able to point out 2 birds nests and some turtles on a rock... More

Tammie - Thanks for your review. We will pass along your comments to our captains and crew. Our pollen counts have been exceptionally high lately which makes it challenging to keep the skylights as crystal-clear as the front and side windows. One of the boat's air conditioning units was not functioning at optimal levels and was replaced yesterday. We hope... More

My family took this tour this past week and it was one of the highlights of our trip to Chattanooga. The tickets are a bit on the pricey side ($30+ adults and $18 for kids) but it did last two hours and we saw a lot of interesting wildlife and beautiful views of the gorge. There is really no other... More

Took the 2:30 tour. Great views, knowledgeable tour guide (Grace), and comfortable indoor seating. Snacks, beverages, including beer/wine, available for purchase. Interesting facts about the river gorge and surrounding area. May be a bit slow-paced for the under 10 crowd as there is no outside access while the boat is at full speed. Outside access is permitted once the gorge... More

This boat tour is very cool. It has potential to be boring but because of the captains having fun driving the boat, it made for a fun trip. This boat can pick up speed quick and stop just as fast! It's a lot of fun. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and had some interesting facts to share. It was... More

The boat has a nice, clean interior with upholstered comfortable seating. The boat departed on time promptly. The guide gave nature talks about birds and historical and safety videos while waiting for departure time. He also was very knowledgeable about area wildlife. The boat can go very fast and can stop on a dime causing lots of water to spray... More
