The Walnut Street Bridge is not only beautiful, but it's smart as well. The bridge is a renovation of an old, unserviceable transportation corridor across the Tennessee a River. Turned into a pedestrian only bridge, it links the intense concentrated tourist zone with the relatively calmer artsy side of the city. Notice the elaborate woodwork as your stroll across the... Nice peaceful stroll. Great views all around. Benches to sit on and just relax. Only negative was there were a ton of birds.

We took a walk across this bridge in early morning and thoroughly enjoyed the experience with no crowds and a few joggers. This bridge gives you a wonderful perspective of the town, the river, and the overall topography of Chattanooga. This is definitely worth your time to enjoy this walk.

you can't go to Chattanooga without walking from the south shore to the north shore and the bridge is the best way to do it! Utilized by all the locals; great for walks, runs, dog walking, sight seeing!

We visited the bridge during the Wine Over Water festival and found it to be a gem in Chattanooga. You can see the city from a nice, photo worthy, perspective. Since it is a pedestrian-only bridge, you won't be bothered by motorized vehicles. Relaxing and enjoyable. We will be back for a nice walk or run in the morning.

Want a great place to see the sights on both sides of the Tennessee River? The Walnut Street Bridge, full of history, is an easy breezy walk across the river to Chattanooga's north shore after you have visited great places like the Tennessee Aquarium, IMax theater and Chattanooga Choo Choo. There are restaurants on both sides of the river, green... More
