Did you know The designation of DUKW is not a military pun - the name comes from the terminology used for military vehicles in World War II; the D indicates a vehicle designed in 1942, the U meant "utility (amphibious)", the K indicated all-wheel drive and the W indicated two powered rear axles. Although technically a misnomer, DUKWs are often referred to as duck boats. Another popular nickname was old magoo or simply magoo. Though the origin of this term is unknown, it probably refers to the odd shape of the vehicle. DUKWs became known as ''Ducks'' and are still in use, as well as purpose-built amphibious tour buses, primarily as tourist transport in harbor and river cities.

I have been on a few Duck Tours but this one was the best! Barry was entertaining, informative and interesting. I loved that he let the kids have an experience behind the wheel. He joked with us, especially since we were the only New Yorkers...More

Nice People. Kid friendly. I left something on the duck and they mailed it back to me for free! Enjoyed the ride and information learned about the area.

We loved the Duck tour! Our guide Barry was hilarious & photo bombing. We got more information & history on this tour than anywhere else we went. So fun watching the kids drive the duck.

No you don't get soaked. Occasionally when the wind is very strong from the west it can blow into the Duck. On those days the Captain will usually enter the water slower to reduce the "splash"

I just checked their website and it looks like they only have tours from March to October. You can give them a call to find out for sure.

It last close to an hour. Most of the visit is on the water with a short shuttle from their 'base' to the launch site. One suggestion . . .make sure you charge your devices to capture everything. Hope you enjoy!
