To some, we are a Native American art gallery; to others, we are a trading post reminiscent of days gone by. On the corner of 6th Street and Main in downtown Rapid City, Prairie Edge stands two stories high and stretches out for half a block as a brick, wood, and glass storefront that has been restored to its original 19th century glory. Inside, the hardwood floors and polished cabinetry bring to mind the spirit of the Old West, while the distinct smell of sweetgrass and soft sound of a Lakota flute evoke the mystique of the Plains Indian culture.

Prairie Edge is a unique place to shop especiall for one of a kind handmade items of indian and old west flavor. Pick up something western and different for display at home. If you don't make a purchase you have still had a museum like shopping experience. Worth the visit.

Walked into this upscale place on a lark and was just blown away! This store focuses on an extremely wide variety of native american/western america artwork along with a multitude of day to day items (clothes, soaps, cards, beads, etc.). The size of store, which I am guessing is in a renovated 19th century building in downtown Rapid City, seemed... More

Thank you for taking the time to visit with us and for leaving this review. Our building was built in 1886, we historically restored the building back to it's original look in 1993. It is a beautiful location for local art, hand crafts and gifts. More

Thank you for taking the time to leave this review. Prairie Edge is comprised of 5 different departments on three floors. Items are priced from .50 cents up to $1,000.00 of dollars. Hand crafted Native American art is not for everyone and that's why we strive to carry a little something for everyone. Sorry you did not get to experience... More

This store on Main street in down town Rapid City has unique and exceptional inventories for travelers and locals as well. Most merchandise is related to the local Indian culture but all choices are of fine quality and many unique to the area. Well worth the stop.

When we are in Rapid City we like to stop here. Not only to buy the Huckleberry Jam but to look around. You will get a mini history lesson by some of the items they sell. A very good stop while downtown. The location is perfect as well.
