Finished in 1910 at a cost , South Dakota ended up with a modified version of the Montana Helena SC ! The building encompasses Wood , Stone, Marble & Brass and is a beautiful example of Govt. spending. Has been restored over the years and is in great shape today. We visited in the middle/muddle of frantic Xmas decoration and... More

Went to see the trees in the Capitol building. Every year they have a huge display with different trees. We enjoyed the decorations and were also able to see the legislative chambers while we were there. The building is old and has interesting architecture. It doesn't take long to see all of the trees (about an hour) so if you... More

The state capitol has different organizations from around the state decorate the "organizational theme" on different trees, as well as the regular decorations for the capitol. This is a must see, as it is so beautiful. On Saturday the 3rd, there was live Christmas music being played.

The area has plenty of parking and gave me a pleasant evening out on the town seeing the sights and well worth seeing. Great walkways and paths with statuary of historical value!

My Nephew and friend went to the State Capital Building to view the trees. Mount Rushmore is only 75 years old this year and Fort Pierre, SD is celebrating 200 years!! It was a great walk through and the smell of evergreen is in the air!! Come and Enjoy some Prairie culture.

But are not they all? This building is a beauty, craftman built it and well kept, not a large building, I have seem county courthouses that are larger but the building, grounds and setting are very unique. Enjoyed my visit

One of the best State Buildings I've seen. Beautiful gardens in a quaint little town. Make time to go off the beaten track and visit Pierre
