We enjoyed our visit to a real cave. The guide was knowledgeable with a great sense of humor. It was very interesting to see all stalactites, stalagmites, and crystals! We went there during a hot day in July. It was quite cool inside, so wear a light jacket. We took lots of stairs, you will need comfortable non-skid shoes.

My friends and I had a great experience at Wonderland Cave. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the historical and scientific aspects of the cave. The cave itself is fascinating! Expect a lot of walking, climbing stairs and standing. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing. The cave is closed for the winter months and doesn't typically open until May 1,... More

Before we went, we checked the website for the season and hours to make sure it was open. I also called to confirm. No one answered the phone but the message confirmed that they would be open. We drove an hour just to get there and when we did, were told that the caretaker was leaving. I mentioned that I... More

We saw signs for wonderland cave and decided to stop. It's a gorgeous and I'm glad we did. It was about thirty bucks for the two of us to tour the cave. Took about thirty minutes. The man that gave us the tour was so nice and you can tell he really loves the cave. No dogs are allowed in... More

I have seen several people state that the drive to Wonderland Caves is long and scary and possibly even unsafe. This is all completely incorrect. The drive is absolutely beautiful back to the cave. Carl was our tour guide. He is a delightful young man full of information about the cave. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves on our tour. We were... More

Cave closed due to injury of one of the operators. Although another guy was there running the gift shop they were not bringing people down into the cave. I suggested maybe someone could run out to change the "open" signs on the Hwy so people don't drive out and waste their time but got a rude response. Call ahead even... More

The billboard on 385 said open day and evening, so we drove all the way there on windy dirt roads, the last mile is extremely narrow and steep. We got there at 5:01, and were told that they are closed. So we never saw it.

I visited both National Park Service caves in the Black Hills plus this one and Rushmore. This one has the best formations by far. If you have children this is a big plus. Also, a big plus to many people, it is FAR better lit than any tour in the National Park Service caves. Otherwise, read other reviews.

Well, I will start off that our instructor had a sense of humor and sarcasm that was on point. I was very surprised at the knowledge and love of his job. If you are looking for something to do, and do not want to spend a lot of money, this is the spot.
