This Icon of Mitchell, SD is worth seeing only because it is so obviously a tourist trap. In reality, it is a convention center based upon the corn theme. As such, you can buy anything that has to do with corn; it sports a corn facade; and it has corn items all over the place. But be careful. My wife... More

The Worlds Only Corn Palace! Need I say more? This is truly a unique place that can only be seen in Mitchel, South Dakota. It is a great side trip when heading to Mt. Rushmore or the Badlands. Anybody passing through town needs to stop and check out this FREE attraction, you wont be disappointed.

Stopped here along our westward travels with our family group of 11, ranging in age from 8 to nearly 60, at the recommendation of my dad who enjoyed his visit here some years ago on a senior bus tour. I had my doubts about how much fun it could be, but it turned out to be a delightful stop along... More

THis place is amazing. They redecorate this entire building each year with corn. The art work is out of this world. They have a great gift shop and is something to see. So if you are going west stop here before you go to Wall Drugs

We stopped in Mitchell enroute to the Black Hills, and everyone told us that we had to see the Corn Palace. We were told it was one of those things you just have to do if you're ever in South Dakota. If you've read the reviews, you're probably either going to love it or feel blah about it. It was... More

More impressed than I expected. It was worth the stop. The signs in town gave good directions and parking was easy.

We were on a two week trip that one of the first stops was the Corn Palace. This was our first time traveling the area and wanted to see the unique art designs made out of corn. The theme of the building was Rock of Ages. We loved the Willie Nelson tribute as well as Elvis. The use of the... More

I really had very little expectations for the Corn Palace, but was quite glad we took the time to visit the area. It's very uniquely decorated with creative corn mosaics throughout plus still is a useful and valuable arena for the Mitchell community. Tour and video are available. It celebrates and honors an important aspect of this rural town. You... More

My son wanted to go back with his 5 yo daughter because he remembers going there when he was 5. Even though there is a lot of "history" that bores a 5 yo. There is enough hands on scattered throughout that she kept interest. A must see if visiting or even just passing Mitchel. Pleanty of surrounding "tourist" shops

We have been to Mitchell many times to visit family and usually squeeze in a visit to the Corn Palace. We have watched it evolve over the years but this recent renovation is the best. The exterior of the building is decorated every year with mosaics made from colored corn; corn grown for its color not dyed. That of itself... More
