Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Unique shaped lighthouse. I enjoy seeing/climbing lighthouses. We found this one late one evening and drove by it and viewed it from the beach area.
If you are like me and just enjoying visiting lighthouses - add this one to your list.

This was difficult to find (the address took us around the corner), and once you find it, you realized it’s not at all pretty to look at, plus you can’t go in it (probably my bad - I should have done my research on that, I guess). Parking is a problem, and we were there at the end of February, which is NOT high tourist time. The beach was very nice and Sullivan’s Island is definitely worth going to, but if you’re hoping to climb up it for the view & there’s nothing else you want to do on Sullivan’s Island, you might want to do something else instead.

We planned on visiting Sullivan's Island Beach but no easy parking. Warned by locals that the Dept of Public Safety takes the rather strict parking rules very seriously so we decided to move on. Saw the lighthouse in the distance. It appeared very rundown as well as the area it sits on. Neglected and overground.

The lighthouse itself is not too appealing. It’s more of an eyesore for the beach, if anything. Yet, I decided to take pictures of it from different angles. A coast guard clown came out fully enraged yelling at me, accused me of taking pics of their cars (???). Guess somebody’s been spending too much time on TikTok.
Overall, this “attraction” is not worth it.

The Sullivan's Island lighthouse is well worth a short visit - it's an easy stroll from the road. It's quite bizarre - ludicrously top-heavy, but all the more remarkable for that.
One of South Carolina's more intriguing examples of surreal architecture.

Well, the lighthouse was not much to experience. There is no parking, so you have to find street parking (impossible in the afternoon). We knew you couldn’t climb or enter the lighthouse, but we didn’t realize it was fenced off and in such disrepair—it was very sad to see the state it was in. I’m glad we stopped because it was a very unique design. Honestly, I’d say it was best viewed from the beach, around Station 18.

We enjoyed a day at the beach today on Sullivan Island. We could see the lighthouse from our beach chairs. It served as a beautiful backdrop for pictures. It’s a beacon on the island.

True: The Lighthouse is not much to look at during the day, however the closer to sunset..and after sunset ..you'll have a different opinion. This is one of the widest beaches on the east coast @ low tide. A short walk down the beach and you will have amazing views of Charleston and the bridge. Fort Sumter will be on your left and you can walk to Fort Moultrie from this beach. Water is very calm.. Almost like a lake! Be sure to park (for public access) at Station Rd 19 for the Lighthouse or Station Rd 12/13 for the Fort. You will not be disappointed !

At first glance, it’s fairly ugly. However, it’s actually a unique architectural marvel: the only triangular lighthouse in existence. It used to be the second brightest, but the people complained that they couldn’t sleep and the light was turned down.

You can see the lighthouse from the beach, and while you can photograph from there, that's about it. It's not the most aesthetically pleasing lighthouse as is.

Does anyone know what time the light shines? I'd live to see it, but it sounds like it only lights once per night.
Thanks!

At night the lighthouse displays a beam of light which consists of a 0.2 second flash, a 4.8 second eclipse, another 0.2 second flash, and a 24.8 second eclipse.
