Honestly for $3 a person you would be hard pressed to find any other activity that is as good as this. No borring videos to endure just a few short plaques to share info about our past.

Great place to take a walk about and bring the kids. History live in a beautiful relaxed setting. Able to walk inside and on top of.

For the price, I'd recommend this to anyone. It is historic though so it is not handicap accessible. My kids loved it. Lots to see and lots to learn. $5 for the entire family. That is a bargain in any town.

The fort is beautiful and a great activity for kids. There is adjoining beach access as well. The fort is well labeled with historical facts to help children understand.

Glad we stopped here! Used my senior pass so no charge! The visitors center has a nice display and a great movie. The movie gives a great history of the fort which was very informative. Highly recommend seeing it first. Then cross the road and...More

My husband is a Civil War buff so we had to visit on our Charleston trip. The movie was a bit “hokey” but informative and gave a clear history of the fort. Beautiful grounds. Easy parking, larger museum and less crowded than Fort Sumter

Perfect way to spend an hour. Great price, $5 for a family, nice gift shop, museum, and interactive site. Very nice site to climb and explore, can see the fort Sumter also.

Started at visitors center to wonder the exhibits, see movie then visit fort itself. We got in free on this particular Sunday. Nice set up and grounds with various cannons pointed in all directions. We guided ourselves, no tour guide available.

If you want to see just one fort while in the Charleston area, go here. Simple to access, great parking, nice visitor's center and actually a more important site than Fort Sumter, playing roles in the Revolutionary War through WWII. The ground alone are worth...More

We came in right as a volunteer ranger was beginning a tour and I highly recommend taking it if possible. It was nice to have someone explain how the fort and its role has changed throughout time.

It was super cheap. Whole family can get in for (from what I recall) about $5.

If you are taking your own boat then it shouldn't be a problem, the issue you may have is if you take the harbor boat over. It is more thane a 2 hour boat ride round trip and even though the dog would be allowed on the fort... More
