Although small and unassuming, we were impressed with the displays and the presentation by the Gullah Man. I was distracted by some of his current political commentary; but most of his explanations and stories made the visit worthwhile.

Older gentleman with a gift for storytelling. I'm a history and anthropology nerd and was fascinated by him. One medium room filled with artifacts. The quilts and their stories are the highlights.

Thought we where going to listen and see history which is our passion, but what we got was a glorify history of Michele Obama. No history of the gullah people.

The museum is a bit rundown, likely due to the passing of the current owner/curator's wife, but has many fascinating artifacts and a great storyteller in Andrew, the curator. While meandering and a bit long winded, Andrew tells the tale of the Gullah people and...More

I was hoping to learn more about the Gullah culture, but we arrived in the middle of a storyteller rambling about his childhood. He did add some interesting information, but not really about the Gullah. The space is small and haphazardly organized.

Reserve at least an hour to visit this small one room museum off Front Street. Your indulgence will be totally rewarded with a fascinating narrator who will talk your shoes off with tales of the Gullah people, their dialect, the lore of the region, and...More

This museum is just one room, but packed full of all different kinds of artefacts belonging to the Gullah people. I came to this museum as I was doing my dissertation on the Gullah Geechee people. I walked in as Andrew was talking to a...More

Small but busting with knowledge both visibly as well as told by a wonderful orator. My husband and I enjoyed our visit!

There is no admission fee. The museum is quite small and he does ask for donations. The most interesting thing in the museum is the curator. Ask him questions about anything you see there or about the Gullah. There also... More
