I expected more, but it was still interesting.

I expected the shell ring to be huge, but it wasn't. You only get to see a small portion of what's left of it. The creek and tides have eroded much of it. I enjoyed the nice... read more

I expected the shell ring to be huge, but it wasn't. You only get to see a small portion of what's left of it. The creek and tides have eroded much of it. I enjoyed the nice stroll though the maritime forest.

This is a fun place to hike to. Not a long hike but a fun outing to get the kids energy out. It is an easy nature trail where you can see where the edisto indians oyster mounds.

Although it is a long, hot walk to the Indian mound, it is very well worth the trip. Bring mosquito repellent!!

Great trail through some beautiful forest, with nice views over the marsh. The destination is rather disappointing though

This is a pleasant hike through the state park; there is a $5/person fee to get in. There are places along the path to stop and sit and look at the marsh; take bug spray and binoculars. The mound is interesting to see but it's when you think it is one-tenth the size that it used to be, you can... More

We started at the Wyndham resorts on the opposite side of the island, which was a long trip on bike. We get to the state park and its a very well kept place.you have to pay a fee to get in to the park and go on a major road to get to the trail entrance. The trail though was... More

If you aren't a history buff or can't appreciate Native American history, the mound will be a let down. The mound is big and a lot of it has washed into the marsh with the changing route of the river. The mound was put there by local Native Americans approximately 4,000 years ago. The trail to the mound is long... More

The hike is great but a little of a let down once you get there. it is a pile of shells in the cliff on the river. IT is still a nice hike to there and the view of the wetlands is good.

If you like walking far to be disappointed, then this is the attraction for you. One of the suggestions in other reviews is to bike the trail. I 100% agree with this. The trail is paved, has a few cool spots, but overall isn't the greatest hike ever. Biking will get you there quick so you can get the heck... More
