The ultimate tacky venue - but oddly interesting

Having read the billboards for miles and miles heading south on I-95 and giggled at the wording on them, we decided to stop in to see what all the fuss was about. Don't have any expectations and you won't be disappointed. This is the epitome of tackiness, it's cheesy, brash, loud, gaudy and certainly nothing I'd want in my back... More

Fuel up the car, grab a sombrero from the gift shop, snap a picture with a sign and get out of there! Such bad restaurant service and food it was comical! The server was nice but the kitchen was completely dysfunctional. It took so long to bring food and drinks that we visited the gift shop, shopped, sat back down... More

Well, my youngest wanted to see what it all about so we stopped! Wish we wouldn't have. It's a little run down and old. Not a place I would ever stop again. We had ice cream it was just okay the place smelled like a bathroom!

My husband and I took a road trip to FL from NY. We needed a place to park our camper for the night, and south of the border campground had some open spots and was conveniently located so we gave it a shot. The camp store and campground was ok but the bathrooms at the campground were filthy. I can... More

I love unusual places and kitschy things, and neon. I didn't stay long enough for the neon but this place is right up my alley. You have to have a bit of a sense of humor; if you learn the long history of the property you will see it's not meant to be offensive. That said, this is tourist paradise!... More

We stopped over night here, no wifi or tv. Bathrooms and showers were ok. The price was ok, but everything was closed including the tower they said due to winds. The shops were overpriced for the quality. We walked over to the motel to get internet. You can use their indoor pool if you want. The staff was friendly but... More

When I asked my adult daughter where she would like to go on a road trip, she immediately responded "lets work our way to South of the Border!" She had not visited in close to 30 years (even longer for me) so THAT was our destination. Our memories of the place kept us both in a state of anticipation as... More

I have always been intrigued by the signs and the lights when passing this place so I finally stopped in. First off, you cannot tell what is open and what is closed. THere are hotels that look abandoned and no real direction as to how to get to the real attractions. The bathrooms were absolutely third world in their appearance... More

You can tell that they are trying to rehabilitate the mini golf courses. Each hole has new turf (not necessarily all new, but parts are new), chlorinated water, and fresh landscaping. Its also a long course (in terms of feet) and a good chance to get out and walk. The reason we liked it so much, it's cheap! At $4... More

The motel was really nice. Old style (which I wanted) and big rooms, clean, great showers and very well maintained. If you just need a place to stop or want to visit a somewhat eclectic stop, this is it. Reminds me a lot of Wall Drug in South Dakota.
