Charleston is a wonderful sea side city and comprises of a peninsular and many islands connected by bridges. City is historic and famous for the film "Gone with the Wind". The Arthur Ravenel Bridge connects the down town area to Mount Pleasant.

We drove over this bridge going into and out of Charleston. It it up high, and any time I drive high bridges, I get nervous, like the Chesapeake Bay Bridge outside of Annapolis, Maryland when I go to or from Ocean City, Maryland. Still, it is a neat lloking bridge.

Amazing views and gorgeous bridge! Fascinating bridge and architecture. You can view the bridge from the waterfront park, from the Fort Sumter ferry, from a harbor cruise, driving on it, or walking across it. It’s really a nice bridge and it takes on different shades/colors depending on the angle you’re looking at it. On our way back from Fort Sumter, at one time, it looked black. Other times gray, white, light gray. Just a really pretty bridge!

This beautiful bridge handles mega-amounts of vehicles every day. There is ample space/ lane on each side to walk. Run, or bike and is very safe. It is free to cross n gives you direct access to Charleston proper when traveling South on US 17.

Stayed in a hotel just left of the base. It was amazing to look out your window at night and seeing it glow in the distance. Fun to walk, but remember it is long and going one way means you have to return. I left my wife in one of the seats at the far end ran back and drove to pick her up. Took a harbor cruise and the view of the bridge was amazing.

We saw the bridge from several spots around Charleston (Waterfront Park, the cruise to Fort Sumter). One night we decided to cross it and look at it from Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park. We enjoyed driving across the bridge and back. I wish I researched it more to learn what time of the day and what location offers the best views. I will likely book a hotel in Mount Pleasant next time when we visit Charleston to cross it multiple times. A morning walk across the bridge may be nice. A sunset cruise should be a good way to admire the bridge from a different perspective.

Great modern bridge. Couldn't wait to cross it. Did it twice to get to Mount Pleasant, first to see Patriot's Point and second to get to Boone Hall Plantation...both highly recommended.

Best part of crossing the bridge is that it is free to cross. If this bridge was in NY, it would cost $10 to cross.

Witnessed people walking and running across the span as well.

Iconic Bridge is visible from all over the Charleston area.

We visited the bridge by water from harbor tours, drove over it to get to Boone Plantation, and heard a ghost story near the pineapple fountain about it from our walking ghost tour guide. It’s an icon for Charleston. A mighty structure.

The Ravenel Bridge spans 2.5 miles. We walked it among other walkers and bikers. The views are lovely, the breeze was great on a hot day. My suggestion would be to make sure to wear headphones to block the swoosh of busy car traffic.

There used to be a threatening bridge that used to be here. Many people would drive 90 miles out of their way not to cross this bridge. Now Charleston has a very modern, safe, practical bridge that should be copied by many other states with old bridges. Charleston has a right to be proud of the Bridge!
