Grace embodies the Christian ideology of radical hospitality and welcomes ALL without question or judgement. It did not break with the Episcopalian Church of the U.S. (ECUSA) over the ordination of the gay bishop Gene Robinson like many of the other former Episcopalian congregations in town and instead embraces diversity, doctrinal discussion, and still remains true to traditional liturgical practice... This church offers different styles and times of service, and it is clear they plan every detail. The music is exceptional, at least at the traditional 11:00 Sunday service. We are not Episcopalian, but this is the church we visit when in Charleston over a Sunday. The structure itself is gorgeous and well cared for, but isn't typically open to... More

My son, a first year Citadel Cadet and I attended the 11 AM Service. So many people walked up to him and congratulated him on the previous day's football victory as well as inquiring about his experience. He was not expecting this. We are life long Episcopalians and this was as wonderful and welcoming community as I've ever visited.

This beautiful and historic church hosts a tea room during the Spoleto Festival that is a fantastic deal if you are looking for a delicious lunch without a long wait or jacked-up prices. We had a big group so we had to make reservations, but small groups of 2 or 4 are welcome to walk in. Most of our group... More

Grace Church has always run the best tea room in Charleston for years. All the money goes to local charities, last year the total was $70,000! Amazing food and people.

Each year for two weeks during Spoleto, Grace has a Tea Room serving wonderful dishes, like chicken salad, Shrimp Remoulade, crab soup, okra soup, and numerous homemade desserts. The members of the church work very hard preparing and serving guests each day starting on Memorial Day. The food is delicious and the desserts are fantastic. While you are eating someone... More

This is a lovely old church and has been active in the community for many years. The choirs are outstanding. You do not have to be Episcopalian to feel welcome in this church. The church has recently had major structural work done, so that it will endure for many more years. If you are in Charleston and are looking for... More

If you are Anglican- or someone interested in the Anglican tradition of church architecture and worship- then Grace Church Cathedral is a must-see while you're in Charleston. It is widely considered the finest example of Neo-Gothic architecture in Charleston, having been designed by E.B. White (one of Charleston's most famous architects.) The entire experience of attending Sunday Eucharist will inspire... More

Recently designated a Cathedral, and just restored inside and out. Grace is known as a friendly church and you won't be able to enter without meeting at least one parishioner welcoming you. The 11AM service is high church in the best Anglican tradition. Services are followed by refreshments next door. And best of all, there's a coupon in the program... More

Grace Episcopal is a beautiful church with incredible music and and liturgy. It's worth a visit on Sunday morning if you are staying downtown. Don't worry about wearing tourist clothing. You will still be welcome.
