Walks In History, LLC is excited to be operating in the most beautiful and historic city in the United States. We offer a Supernatural Charleston Tour at the ca. 1822 Old Citadel and ca. 1770 College of Charleston, two historic areas that mark two significant revolutions in American history that are revealed through light-hearted yet spooky documented stories of spirits in the Holy City. No other tour takes you through the grounds of the longest battle of the Revolutionary War or to the parade grounds of the Washington Light Infantry. In addition, this tour ushers guests through the persecuted yet inspiring history of black churches in Charleston, including the famed Mother Emmanuel (ca. 1816) and Bethel (ca. 1797). The Supernatural Charleston tour meets in the heart of the historic peninsula, one of the oldest parts of the Holy City, Marion Square, where guests will also see the 1790 wall and 1810 in-tact remains of America's first city orphanage. From May 27-June 12th, during the Piccolo Spoleto Arts festival, Walks in History will be collaborating with Gullah Gullah Tours to offer a very special Porgy and Bess walking tour based on Charleston natives Dubose and Dorothy Heyward's play and libretto. For this unique walking tour through the cobblestone French Quarter that highlights black life in the 1920s and the cultural sites that pertain to the international classic opera Porgy and Bess, visit porgy and bess tours - hope to see you soon -- walking is man's best medicine!

This tour was extremely interesting. I went with a medium sized group consisting of my family members. Everyone enjoyed it and the guide was very well informed when it comes to stories and facts about the city. I would recommend this tour to anyone looking to see the city in an original way.

We were delighted to take part in this tour. I was a little skeptical about whether I would enjoy a walking tour but it was clear, within a few minutes, I was truly interested in the grandeur and history of Charleston. I am grateful our tour guide seamlessly joined our large group, which varied greatly in ages. I truly recommend... More

We live in the neighboring suburb of Summerville. My husband and I love taking tours of downtown Charleston. We have tried out different touring companies but Walks In History, run by owner Geordie, is by far the best. Whether we have out of town guests looking to learn about Charleston or if we just want to have an outing as... More

My family and I drove from the four corners of SC to meet up and go on this tour. Their ages ranged from 14 to 57 and Geordie Buxton, the guide was able to keep everyone's attention and interest - this was a miracle in itself. The tour was full of humor, tons of historical information, and even some video... More

I just finished the tour with Jordy tonight with my family and friends and the whole tour was awesome. He had so much information and knowledge about Charleston and could answer any question. I am from Charleston and was not aware of all the information about historical sites that he shared with us. I would take this tour again and... More

We had a fascinating and fantastically funny city walking tour with Ed Macy. Ed is a wealth of historical knowledge and engrossing stories which are told through his one-of-a-kind, irreverent filter. He is obviously very well-read and his passion for Charleston and it's history shines through unambiguously. You would have to be a odd duck indeed not to enjoy spending... More

DISCLAIMER- family with young children is actually myself and an 11 year old. Our guide was witty and very passionate about the knowledge he was sharing. I feel like what I learned on that tour is what Charleston doesn't want you to know. You get a peak at what Charleston's foundation is really made of. We walked through parts of... More

Ive been coming to Charleston for 20 years and taken multiple walking tours. All of them focused on the same sites, same landmarks, and similar stories. Geordie, however, started in a different spot than all the rest and he took us in the opposite direction as all the rest. One of the most interesting themes he weaved into his stories... More

I have done several ghost tours over the years in a couple of different places. This is the 2nd in Charleston. Geordie the tour guide was very knowledgeable and knows his stuff. This tour took us through a different area of the city mostly around the college area. We learned alot about the past of the different sites we stopped... More
