Enchanting historic Charleston comes alive on entertaining and informative...

Enchanting historic Charleston comes alive on entertaining and informative walking tours with 7th-generation Charleston native Michael Trouche. Discover stunning architecture, glorious gardens, Civil and Revolutionary War sites, cobblestone streets, wrought iron gates, legendary graveyards, and the local flavor of the fabled “Holy City” that no one knows better than Michael, who grew up in the famous "South of Broad" area, and has written two popular books on Charleston, where his family has lived for more than 215 years. Michael won numerous prestigious awards as host of the acclaimed "Carolina Camera" television program for 20 years on the local Charleston CBS affiliate, and has charmed tour guests for 10 years with his unparalleled knowledge of South Carolina's history, culture, plants and animals, as well as colorful insights, locations and anecdotes that only a lifelong Charleston native would truly know.

Arrived in Charleston the previous evening so a great way to start our trip. Able to book with tour guide Michael that morning & he directed us from our hotel, the Planters Inn. This was one of the best walking tours we've ever experienced. We had a small group of seven and Michael looked after us extremely well during our... More

A fact filled, fast paced tour of historic Charleston. Michael goes out of his way to learn and use peoples' name - pretty amazing in such a short time together. No question stumped him - knows his stuff! Enjoyed tour and would highly recommend it.

This is a great tour for newbies to Charleston. It helps you get the "lay of the land" and gives some of the history of the city. I especially liked Michael's personal touches (his own experiences as well as his ancestors'). I recommend that you do this on day 1 on a visit to Charleston as it shows you places... More

Michael led an excellent tour! Michael gave us so much information about the history, architecture, as well as personal stories. So much as crammed into the the two hours. All very interesting with no wasted time!

First and most important to our review; Michael knows how to tell the story and weave history, personal experience, memorable facts and cultural view into the fastest two hours, we've ever spent. What a joy to experience the history with Michael. We've been on a lot of walking tours in a number of different cities and by far Michael was... More
