Let a fourth-generation Charlestonian introduce you to one of the most charming cities in the country. Explore quiet alleys as well as busy streets with someone who has written six books on Charleston and writes regularly about it for local publications. Private tours are available any day of the week or you can join a regularly scheduled public tour on Friday and Saturday mornings. (On the public tour, no more than 12 tickets will be sold per tour, allowing for a more personal experience.) Come share your guide’s love for a place, a history, and a culture that has been part of her family for more than 175 years.

Had a private tour for 2 with Mary Coy in Charleston. She has an incredibly vast knowledge of the area as a 5th Generation Charlestonian/Published Author. She was very friendly and easily relatable. Definitely recommend.

Mary Coy was the most resourceful, interesting guide who also is very accommodating: she generously changed our tour time to the next day when rain threatened to interfere with the walk.. She is a fifth generation Charlestonian who knows the history of the city, as...More

My wife and I visited Charleston last week for the first time. We had heard great things about the city and all there is to do. We thought the best way to see what Charleston has to offer would be on a tour. Mary Coy...More

My mom and I took Mary's "Charleston 101" tour during a weekend visit to Charleston and it was one of the highlights of our stay. Mary's tour is the opposite of the "cattle call" type feeling you can get when doing a tour. When we...More

The Charleston 101 tour is the most professional history tour we have taken. Mary Coy has a unique perspective because she was raised in Charleston. She does not just follow a script like some "history tours". We have been on several history tours in Charleston...More

We don’t normally take guided tours and try to discover cities on our own for the most part. But this time, we made an exception, partly because I had read great things about this specific tour. It is led by Mary Coy, a fourth generation...More

Mary is a life-long Charlestonian and has fascinating stories from family members that I doubt you would get on many of the other tours. We took a private tour because of my elderly mother, and it was worth every penny. Perfect introduction to Charleston.
