As a history buff, this was one of the the absolute "must see" places for me. I wasn't disappointed! The fort is incredible and has been amazingly maintained. Besides the history, the fort also provides some amazing views of the bay, the Atlantic, and the city of Charleston. This is one of those places every American should visit.

I love historical sites, and this one did not disappoint. An added bonus to this tour is that you get to take a ferry ride out to the island of Ft. Sumter. It was a beautiful day for being on the water, and we had a grand view of the port of Charleston from the boat. Ft. Sumter has special... More

Definitely worth a visit if you care at all about the history of the country, much less the civil war. The museum is good, if not great, but being there and seeing the fort in its position was fascinating. The ferry ride over is also pleasant.

Nice boat ride to the monument. 1 hour was enough time at the monument. Can't wait for my kids to get older so we can bring them.

This place is definitely a history buff must-do. The fort is where the Civil War started and to be in that space is pretty incredible. The fort was mostly destroyed over a period of attacks and battles, but the roots of the history is definitely there. Worth the visit!

So much history. Really enjoyed the ferry ride over and all the information shared by the ferry boat driver.

A nice boat ride out, seeing all of the forts, not just Sumpter, and then touring that highlight. Kids love the cannons.

After a plane delay, I had less than two days in Charleston. The fort was my must see, so I already had reservations. However, because of my delay I arrived a day late. I called the ferry company and changed my reservation, no problem. Good thing I had reservations, when I arrived to the ticket booth, the ferry was sold... More

My husband and I took our 11 year old daughter to Fort Sumter after visiting the South Carolina Aquarium next door. We all enjoyed the boat ride to the fort and were able to see some dolphins. Since we were the very first tour to the fort (11 am) we were able to see the flag raising ceremony. A group... More

Nice boat ride out, but the chills start as you get off the boat. Make sure you go and listen to the 10 minute history overview with the park Ranger. It will make you think of things differently while you are there.
