Bay Street is not very long but is very well kept up and clean. It goes from the "downtown" area out past some beautiful old homes to Bluff Park. There are some nice shops, restaurants, and art studios on Bay Street.

Beaufort is a lovely strolling spot --especially along the waterfront. Bay Street has some very nice shops/galleries and the historic buildings make it pleasurable.

We walked by the water and the views were beautiful. Most of it is shaded and there is seating/swings along the walkway. It is a little nerve-racking with young children as the barrier to water isn’t all that much so just something to make note...More

Beaufort, SC, is a great little town with lots of history. This is the Main Street to visit for lots of interesting shops. Find a park close by, go early, park, walk and shop. The water is a row over and there are even carriage...More

If you're visiting Beaufort or any of the outlying areas, you owe it to yourself to stroll down Bay Street. Lots of shopping for local art, photography and keepsakes. Or just pick up some fun T-Shirts and souvenirs. Once your done shopping, you'll have the...More

Bay Street is beautiful, especially the historic pre-Civil War Era houses. (Some of these are now Bed-and-Breakfast establishments.) I would recommend walking/driving/taking a carriage horse down into the Carteret Street district. A meandering walk would be the best way to enjoy classic Beaufort. :)

Enjoy the shops, dining and waterfront around Bay Street. You'll be glad that you did! Set aside some time to enjoy the porch swings along the waterside.

What a beautiful downtown area. You can have a great bite to eat or have an afternoon cocktail and then you can wonder through the shops, kids love the candy store and then there's the view. Wow! Definitely worth the stop to check it out....More

the waterfront has some nice scenery and is a very relaxing walk or there are swings all along the walk way for relaxing as you watch the water.

There is parking by the water and some on the side streets. As for walking, anywhere is fine because you can go down one side and then back up the other. It’s not too long. Have fun!
