Bay Street is not very long but is very well kept up and clean. It goes from the "downtown" area out past some beautiful old homes to Bluff Park. There are some nice shops, restaurants, and art studios on Bay Street.

Bay Street is beautiful, especially the historic pre-Civil War Era houses. (Some of these are now Bed-and-Breakfast establishments.) I would recommend walking/driving/taking a carriage horse down into the Carteret Street district. A meandering walk would be the best way to enjoy classic Beaufort. :)
What a beautiful downtown area. You can have a great bite to eat or have an afternoon cocktail and then you can wonder through the shops, kids love the candy store and then there's the view. Wow! Definitely worth the stop to check it out....More
