My husband and I didn't go up this one, but our kids did. They said it was cool but scary. Might try it next time around.

Great stop to get pictures and to check out while at Hunting Island State Park. My father-in-law loves lighthouses so we had to get a few pictures for him especially. Definitely a "must stop" while in the area and a gorgeous place to see a...More

Hunting island has a very nice beach area along with the ability to tour the lighthouse. There is a small fee for the lighthouse but well worth it.

The history of this old light house is fascinating and worth the short drive from Beaufort. It has been well maintained and gives a beautiful view from the top. The 167 steps are not too bad. (Over 70 and no problems at all)

You must be 44 inches tall to climb. Our youngest child wasn’t tall enough, but she was allowed to go in and at least take a look up.

As I understand the the lighthouse is fine, but the fence around it didn't survive. The island is devastated all the infastructure needs rebuilt. The only part of the island open is at the pier. .
