This is a great walk / bike path on top of the dike that protects the city from the west branch of the Susquehanna River. It has history markers that discuss the log boom of the 19th century as well as other local history. a...More

This should be a lovely walk along the river, but unfortunately, the Williamsport side of the path sits directly next to I-180, which makes it noisy and unpleasant. The South Williamsport side is nicer, but still feels like being in town rather than in nature.

The Riverwalk is high on a berm above the Susquehanna, with beautiful views of islands and flocks of waterfowl. You have to put up with loud noise from the highway nearby, however, which runs parallel to the north side of the riverwalk.

Many years ago walking or riding your bike on the dike was a pleasurable past time. The view of the river, mountains, and town was pleasurable. Somehow the government got involved and homogenized much of the pleasure out of it. Now there are street lights,...More
