A beautiful state park - been hiking, fishing, camping and enjoying the beach for almost 30 years. Every season has its natural highlights. A personal favorite has always been the shades of death trail. Definitely a must see (waterfall and lake).

The giant boulder field is worth the drive through this park. It's a bit of a drive over rough roads to get there. I've never seen anything like it. Millions of large boulders completely cover manty acres. They are packed so tight that it is...More

Loved Hickory Run trails, especially Shades of Death. It's an out and back trail with one start point near the park office, going upstream. This is the prettier start point--if you go to the other end near the amphitheater area, you have a few minute's...More

Good adventours place for nature lovers. And it's history is amazing!! We need to travel in a bumpy road for around 2.8 miles to reach this destination.

This was a Very interesting place to visit. We took my 11 year old son and he enjoyed learning about the park and what created the boulder field. Wear hiking shoes if you plan to venture out on the boulders.

A great place to take younger children with it's field of boulders. Left by a glacier many years ago, the 3 young boys that I took here had a blast climbing over all of the boulders. So cool to sit on them and have a...More

There are a wide variety of camping options, some permit pets. You really have to talk to the administrators to see what is available; the camping map online is quite good. "The campground has modern facilities from the... More

For tent camping in the park, the dcnr website states $19 for the site, and $4 for the reservation fee. Is it only $19 if I pay when I show with no reservation? I'm going on a weekday offseason, and not concerned about spots.
