It was the year 1829 when Americans were getting used to their newly elected president, Andrew Jackson, that 23-year old David G. Yuengling, an immigrant from Wurttemberg, Germany, settled in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, and started a brewery. Originally named the Eagle Brewery, today the Yuengling pride, symbolic of the American Eagle. Each Yuengling label bears the eagle trademark chosen by young David Yuengling so long ago. Previously located on Centre Street, current site of Pottsville's after only two years of operation. A new brewery was then constructed on Mahantongo Street, where operations continue today. The brewery remains family operated by Richard "Dick" Yuengling, Jr. and his daughters are being groomed as the sixth generation.

Finally made the pilgrimage to Yeungling brewery. After being to many brew tours, this has got to be the best one I have been too. Basically for the simple fact of the history of this place dating back to prohibition. If your a Yeungling fan...More

I liked the beer so I took the tour - what history going back to 1840. Best brewery tour I ever took, walked in the cool tunnels where the kegs were stored and toured the active fermenting and bottling plant.

We should have done our homework better. I expected the brewery somewhere in the country instead it's in the centre of town. Very little parking close to the brewery. We found a big parking lot close to E Union St, olny 50c for 2 hours....More

A must see, mainly for the beer liver but also great for the non beer lover to learn about beer and how it's made. Lots of narrow and steep stairs. Could be difficult for some. Great history behind the brewery. Really nice gift shop at...More

Stopped by as we had heard this was the oldest brewery in America. It did not disappoint. The tour took you into the caves that were used in the early years to chill and store the lager. The guide were well informed but made it...More

Everyone was extremely nice, and very clean. Tours are free and our guide was very knowledgeable. Please wear proper footwear, or they won't let you do the tour. I think you can buy some type of footwear for 5 dollars. We had our choice of...More

Parking is limited around the brewery, however, with a couple trips around the block you can find parking spots close to the tour center. If you use the parking garage down the street, plan on an 'invigoratiing' climb up the... More

Not sure, its been a while. However the caves beneath the brewery are a recent addition to the tour as they were bricked up during prohibition and the walls were breached just a short while ago. Perhaps the coolest part of... More
