I saw Fear Factory here. I'd heard the sound was awful but it seemed fine to me. The place is really cool but the main floor set-up is terrible. The staircase in the middle of everything is very inconvenient. It's tough to get a view upstairs so go early, use the toilet, then stay up front. I wanted to love... More

First time at this venue seeing Brian Fallon and the Crows. Came early, first in line and able to be up front which was my sons dream come true. Great sound quality in a intimate setting. There is a great balcony with a railing which would be a great choice to see concert also. Street parking free after 6pm. Or... More

We saw David Duchovny here on 9/13/15. We had a great spot up on the balcony against the railing, so we could see everything really well, but the sound wasn't the greatest up there. Too much bass -- you could barely make out the lyrics or understand what he was saying when he talked in between songs. The venue itself... More

Probably one of the best smaller venues I've been to. Just a cool set up and all the employees I encountered were very helpful! Can't wait to come to another show!!

My wife and I went there to see a concert featuring Nothing More, (if you haven't heard of them look them up, amazing band). I really liked the way they preserved the old church structure to utilize it as a concert venue. Great place to get up close to the bands.

Altar Bar is probably my favorite place to see bands in Pittsburgh. It is not very big, which provides a much more intimate experience. Great views of the stage from anywhere. My favorite spot is on the second floor, overlooking the stage. A few places to grab a seat up there, but strike quick because they go fast. Two bars... More

I recently went to a concert at the Altar Bar. It was Yellowcard w/ Finch and One Ok Rock on 4/17/2015. This is my full length review of my experience. Arrival and Entry: upon arrival we had to wait in a long line that wrapped around the back of the building. That was typical and expected considering it was a... More

We went to the Alter Bar to see a band--The Legwarmers--we love. We are not the usual Saturday night crowd. It was fantastic! We were there in January and again in October. We love the band and the venue has an upper balcony with great views of the crowd below and the band. This is a great place to see... More

The fact that Altar is in an old church is awesome to me. The musicians booked to play for the next several months is very impressive. The acoustics of the building are one of two downfalls the architecture of the building can sometimes distort the quality of the sound and sometimes an echo can be heard. Secondly the bar should...
