Small, but interesting museum in the heart of Pittsburgh. Worth a visit if you're in the area, but I wouldn't travel to see it.

There is so much to see here. Every display was educational and interesting. They claim the building stands in the same location as one of the ramparts of Fort Pitt, which helps to set the tone for the whole visit. A few of the exhibits really do help you go back in time and imagine what life was like in... More

Nice guided tour with a lot of evidences of the past. Instructive visit assured. Historical movies, panels and objects are part of this museum.

This is a cute museum to learn about some local history. Very informative and interesting. The Fort Pitt Block House is the only thing left standing. But they have outlines of where the old Fort was. The property is on is beautiful. Enjoyed our time there.

My husband and I visited for several days and I discovered this wonderful museum. My husband has an insatiable appetite for history. His passion is anything French. This wonderfully organized museum meticulously lays out the French, British and Indian interaction during the French and Indian War. Take the time to read all the signs and marvel at the display of... More

This museum is highly informative about the French and Indian War, especially as it pertains to Pittsburgh area history. We spent several hours views the displays and artifacts. There was a viewing of the movie, The Light in the Forest, which we watched. It fit perfectly with the exhibits.

If you want to understand the history of Pittsburgh, this is a good starting place. The museum is very informative and interesting. Its setting at Point State Park makes the combination worth the visit. Happened to be there on a cold and windy day, so the museum provided warmth and shelter as well.

I was looking forward to visiting this museum while driving to Pittsburgh. I have favorable knowledge of our frontier days and this museum taught me many facts still. It is small, but very well our together. Beautiful art and exhibits, and also some hands-on displays. I enjoyed feeling the different types of animal pelts. Not at all expensive to enter... More

Here is the thing. It costs 7 bucks to get in. I am not cheap, but I did not find this place that great. I paid only because the old block house, which should be seen by all, is free, so I felt the money was more of a donation. The museum itself is bland and nothing extraordinary. It keeps... More

Even if history is not among your stronger interests, you'll probably find that large lighted model of Fort Pitt interesting. Fort Pitt Museum became associated with the Heinz History Center several years ago and this has resulted in some very good temporary exhibits on the second floor. The museum is in a reconstruction of Fort Pitt's Monongahela Bastion. For a... More
