The tour of the house sheds light on the Frick family, the customs of the time, and beautiful detailed architecture and furnishings. The garage holds a history of carriages (who knew there were so many types?), and they offer a delightful albeit pricey tea.

Tomas and I did the Undressed: a History of Underwear Exhibition and the Clayton House with the tour focusing on the servants' roles during the holidays. The Frick Museum Exhibition was really very interesting, but as another reviewer mentions, the gallery was much smaller than...More

My wife and I did the history of underwear and I have to say it exceeded my expectations, very interesting and educational. We also did the 22 room Frick Mansion or called the Clayton House. If you like history and old homes built in 1800s,...More

We visited the Frick in Pittsburgh while in town for other events. The Frick was exhibiting an interesting traveling exhibit from the V&A in London; we had hoped for more beyond the special exhibit, but there was very little to see in terms of additional...More

I tried to visit the Frick today. When I walked in, no one greeted me and there was confusion as to what was going on. There was a woman in front of me who was told to wait at the first desk but the worker...More

What an interesting exhibit! The history of underwear with some very interesting old pieces displayed on mannequins. When you are done with this exhibit, walk over to see the car museum which is free.

Enjoyed one-hour tour with well-informed guide. Believe only saw 1/2 of rooms in Mansion due to safety restrictions on accessing top floor, but everything seen was truly amazing with furnishings and decorations true to that period as original to Frick owners. Book on-line in advance...More

There are as many museums in Pittsburgh as you would expect from a fair-sized city. None of them are among the best museums in the country, but many are worth a visit. The Frick is different. Frick himself was a horrible man who worked with...More

Walk thru the halls and rooms to see what money could buy in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Take your time and look around and you will notice some of the little things that will surprise you.

The house tour is well done and not too long, about an hour. Almost everything in the house is original so it’s interesting to see how the family lived and also how the servants had to care for a family in that time. The grounds...More

If you have the time and do not have an auto with you, you can actually take a bus from downtown to the Frick estate. If you're a senior, there is no cost at all. You must allow at least an hour each way, and while the... More
