The Cumberland Valley Rail Trail is well maintained, and an excellent place to walk. I particularly enjoy hiking with dogs on this Rail Trail. My favorite entry point is Oakville, but I also like starting at Shippensburg Township Park, and in Newville.

We took 5 of our grandchildren.children.on the trail with our bikes. It was nice.an flat for them to.ride. There ages were 5 to 11. We didn't have to worry about cars just other bikes and walkers. We even saw some squirrels, groundhogs and cows.

Great place to take the family for a bike ride. Easy access from route 641. Safe and sound for everyone that likes to ride bicycles.

We often ride our bicycles on the Cumberland Valley rail trail. It's mostly flat, with some short hills at the road crossings. Only a short portion, near the Newville trailhead, is paved; the rest is gravel/crushed stone. The surface is okay, but it's probably time...More

NicE Trail through the countryside/farm land. Needs some maintenance to fill areas that have ruts or wash out. Some areas (hills) are paved but the rest is small gravel. Generally not too busy. An occasionally horse on the horse trail.
