Sweet But Short and Expensive

This was like a trip back in time with an old-fashioned steam engine train. Our kids and friends loved the ride. You pick up the train off bridge street a couple blocks west of main street New Hope. Santa is on the train in December, we rode on it in the summer. You need to check for times and in... More

Nice little old fashioned railroad you can ride for about 8 miles and 15 minutes each way. It's fun, but it's very expensive for how short a trip it is. 22 bucks per adult seems high to me. It's a nice ride, but it ends pretty quickly and then you ride the train backwards back to the original station in... More

I'm a multiple-time patron of the New Hope and Ivyland Railroad, living about 30-40 minutes away (depending on traffic) - and decided to charter a train car for my daughter's third birthday (she loves trains almost as much as her father does). Since it was the opening weekend of the North Pole trips, and they weren't expecting a lot of... More

We rode the Polar Express right after Christmas and got a decent discount on Groupon. The train ride was cute. Santa, Mrs. Claus and a man who played a banjo and sang Christmas songs came out. There were also people that handed out hot chocolate, cookies and candy canes. Pretzels and drinks were also available for purchase. We went for... More

Disappointing! This is a very expensive train ride with not a lot going on most of the hour ride. There was a banjo player but he never played in our car. The accordion player did for a bit and he was fun. They give you half cups of hot chocolate which was yummy but refills took so long our second... More

We and our 32 guests were enchanted by the experience. We returned recently to relive our wedding. The Bucks County countryside is gorgeous, and the train rolls gracefully through it along these narrow gauge tracks, driven by men who wear the vintage gear that train engineers and coal-stokers used to wear. The old station itself in New Hope is lovely.... More

You know when you leave an experience and it was a memory that will be a great one! Our whole family enjoyed ourselves so much, 4 and 8 year old kiddos. Santa (and Mrs Claus!) were perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and we're so glad we went!

We bought 1st class tix and felt like cattle. Save your money. Here are the positives: - nice town - authentic rail cars - great Santa and mrs claus Negatives/areas for improvement - price/value - train left 20 minutes late. The poor kids were freezing on the platform. The least they could do is spring for some heat lamps. -... More

This was our first time on the Christmas express. I was a little weary after I read the bad reviews but I'm glad I didn't listen. It was a very enjoyable trip. We took the first train at 11am. We had a very pretty view throughout the trip. If you went at night there's probably not much to see. The... More

Wow! What a rip off! I attended last year and urge you to save your $$$! Santa bringing a piece of coal would have been better than this! Read on if you'd like the nitty gritty. Need a reason to skip it? How about 10 of them!? 1. The ride claims to be 1hr to 1.5hrs.  Our trip was less... More

Thank you for your candid feedback. We are sorry you felt your excursion to be overpriced and not up to your expectations, we try to be clear on our website about the details and costs of the rides. Sometimes unexpected issues cause the train to start late or be delayed and that is obviously something we can't control. The cost... More
