Pennsbury Manor is an historic recreation of William Penn's home, working farm and Delaware River estate. Faithfully restored as close to the original property as possible it includes outbuildings, artisan exhibits, functional kitchens, workshops, gardens, animals, barns, stable and Colonial actors in period clothing, including William Penn himself! The property is set on 43 acres fronted by the Delaware River... More

I have been here multiple times but on the last visit I took my 8 year old grand daughter. Our guide was wonderful and gave us information which held both our interests. He was able to relate history with stories that kept my grand daughter's interest. The grounds are also lovely and there is a barn and animals that you can... More

We went to tour this house. I was shocked it was more than just the house. There was a mini farm with an ox, horse, geese and sheep which are rescue animals. The outbuildings were great. There was a museum inside that was VERY detailed and extremely well done. You can tell the state poured a fortune into it. Nice... More

The museum near the Manor gives the history of the Quaker William Penn. His early ideas for the general form of a democratic government were remarkable. Although I found the history very interesting, the Manor House was rebuilt in the 1930's and is major guess work based on the foundation footprint and little additional information. Our guide was very honest... More

Pennsbury Manor was the summer residence of William Penn. The current main building is a reconstruction, one of the last WPA projects from the 1930s - but the rooms are thoughtfully furnished in period furnishings. Our tour guide, Mary Ann, was in a word superb. She eagerly shared her wealth of knowledge in an engaging manner while patiently answering everyone's... More

What a great location. Demonstrates what the living conditions were in Wm Penns time. The main manor just needs electricity, heat and plumbing and it would be a upscale home in today's time. Our guide was very thorough and answered all questions from the group we were with.

We just got back from Pennsbury and truly enjoyed our time there. We have read a lot about William Penn and so it was worth our time to check it out. Please note that they are giving you an idea of what it was like. There were no actual plans of the home only some verbal information on how he... More

I recommend taking the 1-1.5 hour guided tour. That's the only way you get inside the house and kitchen. Check the website for tour times. I recommend getting there about an hour prior to the tour and go inside the exhibit at the Visitor's Center and watch the video. The house is a replica of the original which faded into... More
