Walking in the exact footsteps of George Washington, standing upon the rocks where the shots were fired from, and being in the exact location of a major historical event is a bit overwhelming once you're there. As you park, you will notice numerous historical markers...More

I can't overstate how this site isn't more centrally connected to our history, considering it really is the trigger for the French and Indian war, which directly sparked our own American Revolution. This spot is where Washington's allies bungled a sneak attack and killed a...More

On our way to Ohiopyle State Park we spotted a sign for Jumonville Glen and turned in. Nice paved walk to the top of the glen. There are a number of plaques describing what happened here. Maybe this was the start of events that led...More

Nice little historical spot in the woods. Paved path down to the battle site. Mostly handicap accessible though the best views are a few steps from the path.

Colonel George Washington's first battle ever. It was against the French and he did not win. See the movie in the Visitor Center to get the entire context. The fort is a reconstruction. A small site but worth seeing. Very children friendly.

Very nice walk in the woods, and on the way several interpretive exhibits explain the history of the skirmish in which George Washington was involved. I recommend coming here after visiting Fort Necessity nearby, as it gives some context for you to appreciate the historic...More

We almost didn't go, because it was so hot the day we visited, but it was lovely & peaceful. A easy walk, w/ a couple of steep slopes. The nature is amazing.

Having read of the encounter at Jumonville Glen years ago it was a real treat to stand on the site where in fact the French and Indian War began. The hike down to the Glen is not for everybody. It was a hot day when...More

I contend that this spot, more than Concord, started our path to the American Revolution . We did not go all the way into the Glen but will go back to do that. Seeing it from the observation deck gives one a great feel for...More
