Very interesting and informative tour of an old stage coach stop dating back to the early 1800's. Tour takes about an hour and the the original Compass inn is still there. The other buildings have been recreated to be authentic. There is the stage coach barn, the cook house, and a blacksmith building. Guide was very knowledgeable.

Our guide Hanna was great! The tour is informative and fun. The Inn is a throw back to stagecoach travel you learn a bit about the innkeepers as well as the stagecoach and innkeepers. Hanna was able to answer all of our questions. We plan to return for one of the museums living history weekends when they fire up the... More

Great for history buffs. Original buildings and the tour guides were very knowledgeable. Our third or fourth time at this museum and we learn something new each time. Good for families. Suggested age for children should be at least 5 or 6.

We had an incredible visit to this authentically restored stagecoach stop. The building has stood since 1799 and is not rebuilt which seems to be unique in the area. The museum tour is friendly and interesting with informed docents. We toured during Christmas candlelight tours and the museum was beautifully decorated inside and out. Definitely recommend a visit at any... More

Visited with a group of retirees. The docents are very knowledgeable and really knew a lot about the museum, its contents and the people of the era. Would be great for children too.

I have taken many groups to Compass Inn, with many senior citizens. They really enjoy the living history. The docents are excellent, share the origins of words and phrases and are attentive to all.

This tour came highly recommended to me by my brother. When I decided to visit with some friends, we found that May 3 was Free Museum Day in Ligonier and the surrounding communities. Six museums were on the "Passport" of tours, this being one of them. It is a living, breathing museum. A woman was preparing to bake bread in... More

We had a great time at the Compass Inn Museum candlelight ghost tour. We arrived just before dark to see very cool torches and a bonfire burning. Several tours guides in full costume throughout the evening. We highly recommend ALL of the tours givin here. This is our second tour and we loved both. The prices can't be beat. Thanks.

Be sure to check the website to go on a reenactment weekend of you go - they bake bread in the outdoor oven and have costumed vendors as well as tours of the museum. One of my favorites is the explanations of common expressions - you will love the explanation for "sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite"!

We take the trip to Laughlintown twice a year to see the historic buildings. Love the Christmas tour and blacksmiths shop too. So much past history is mentioned from the well informed, costumed tour guides. Like the way they gather you in rooms and tell the story. Great ending serving hot cider and cookies. Visit the gift shop and pick... More
