What a treat it was to tour this wonderful old historic home. Our tour guide took us through every room describing the furnishing and also family history along the way. You felt like you were there all those years ago.

Attended the Yuletide on a snowy evening which provided the perfect ambience for this program's Christmas eve. The actors were wonderful in their roles and the costumes were realistic. My husband and I enjoyed the games, the poetry and Christmas carols. That's the way to...More

Well appointed historic property, true to the time, showcasing actual artifacts, with commentary to go along! Decorations for Christmas were true to the time period. Learned a lot from the guide, who was dressed as Buchannon, and had a ton of knowledge to share. Was...More

If you are in Lancaster check this place out. Who knew there was a Presidential home right here. We called and were scheduled for a regular house tour. Period antiques, manicured lawns and great docents that known their history. This is a must do for...More

I always enjoy tours of the presidents homes. The guides always have the most interesting information and you are more likely to retain it when you are in the environment and not just reading it from a book. I would highly recommend a stop here.

The folks at the historic society in Lancaster have done a great job of preserving history with Wheatland. With the exception of one bed everything in the house is from the life and times of President Buchanan. Even if you are remotely interested in American...More

I feel less than genuine writing the review because we only walked around the property. We wanted some good fall pictures and Wheatland delivered on that. Beautiful grounds with plenty of great trees. The neighborhood was pretty as well, in particular a building on the...More
