A drive along this route is a pleasant escape from the outside world. The farms look great, the scenery is relaxing and history is everywhere. A special bonus on a sunny weekend is sharing the day with the chrome and beards of hundreds of motorcycle...More

Short drive out of Sydney for a weekend away in Wollombi. Lots to see along the way. Great part of the whole experience.

Going up to the Hunter Valley from Sydney, we opted to take a route different from the M1, which can be faster, but far less interesting. Turning off the M1 at Peat's Ridge Exit, we drove though small and interesting villages, nearby bridges built by...More

The road is narrow with uneven edges, winding and I thought extremely bumpy but a much nicer way to see the countryside rather than take the freeway. Nowhere as busy as the freeway either. Nice valleys, rows of milk can letterboxes, quaint house and at...More

If you are visiting Hunter from Sydney this is the route to take. Very scenic through the convict trail and takes you through Wollombi to Cessnock. There are few stops and trails on the way and I absolutely enjoyed the drive.

Because the M1 was so busy we decided to go off on 33 as we had the time to be able to amble rather than race to our friends 70th Birthday that was starting at 5pm in Pokolbin. We did the route and enjoyed every...More

Drove through here whilst visiting the Hunter Valley, some nice scenery and history along with some wineries, of course. Route could be improved - mainly the road surface.

When travelling to the Hunter region from Sydney avoid the madness of the M1 and turn towards Calga on the Peats Ridge Road. The scenery through to the Hunter is spectacular and although slightly longer the drive is well worth it

Nice winding road through greenery, lakes, scenic photographic locations and rolling hills. Four cars would seem like traffic :-) ! Can't resist mimicking the quote from 'Cars'... There is always Motorway to make good time, TD33 is the road to have good time ...

I forgot to answer you question fully. This isn't the rainy season (we don't have one in Sydney) and there is only one river crossing and it should be good in almost any conditions. Most of the time you will be in quite... More
