Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A great gem in Wingham (just 10 minutes from Taree), on the edge of the town green. The museum has a variety of old time relics from the past on display and they even have little fact sheet quizs for kids. I had a friend take kids their on a wet day and they loved it.
For visitors that used to have relatives living in the Manning Valley, they have a great collection of information in their archives and many of the volunteers could give you information on past families in the region.

Walked into this little gem with very low expectations being so remote.
But be pleasantly surprised! This is a little piece of everything as you wind in and our of the rooms.

How good is this packed-to-the-rafters museum?! Who knew there was this much vibrantly alive history preserved in this wee town?! What a credit to the community and to the obviously passionate band of volunteers who run and operate this absorbing museum. Everything is grouped, preserved and presented in an interesting manner and our group of 5, ages ranging from 4years to 75years, found a wealth to fascinate us. We'll have to visit again, the 2 hours we spent there wasn't enough, and it won't break the bank when we do- when was the last time your family was able to be entertained for hours with an $8 per family (yes, you read that correctly!) entry fee? Visit here, we're sure you'll want to come again. We do!!

I am not a normal visitor to country town museums, however I was with a group so thought I would look in before walking around town. I was pleasantly surprised and found it to be well laid out and with plenty of interesting exhibits. Everyone in the group enjoyed it and I quickly found a very pleasant hour had passed.

Was recommended to visit this Museum by friends who had visited it previously...WOW what a find. For a country town this has to be one of the best Museums, so much to see and very well laid out. I spent an easy hour and a half walking through at looking at Australia and the Manning Valley's past. A wonderful DVD on Wingham really showcased the area and all it has to offer. Definitely worth a visit.

This is a fabulous museum full of lots of interesting things to look at. The fee for entry is very reasonable. Run by volunteers who really care and are very helpful. They also sell some locally made crafts there. Great for kids and adults too. We loved it. They don't seel refreshments but they are available very close by.

Written 14 April 2016
I think it would be about a 10 minute walk as the Museum is right in the centre of town.
