Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We had a great day out. We went to a wide variety of wineries which was great as we could taste so many different types of wines.
It was raining so we couldn't eat at the cheese stop, so Geoff brought the cheese to us and we had a picnic in the van!
Highly recommend this company if you want a relaxed tour with a good variety of wineries!

Great day out to 4 wineries, a distillery and cheese and chocolate shop.
Had plenty of time at each stop and each winery and distillery were very generous with their tastings. Our driver Bruce picked us up from our hotel in Newcastle and at the end of the day dropped us back. Was a lovely day out in the winter sun - just loved it -thoroughly recommend.

We had the best day. Very accommodating picking us up from where we were staying which was quite far from the hunter (Balcolyn), knew all the great wineries to go to. Our tour guide Bruce was a legend. Everyone was so relaxed and the guide was well organised we didn’t have to think about anything but the wine and enjoying the day. Will recommend to friends and use them again when I’m back.

Terrible. Barry the driver rushed us the whole day because we were “20 minutes behind”.
Every vineyard/distillery that we stayed at, Barry was sure to tell the operator that we were on short time. This meant we did not get the whole experience we paid for.
The man at the distillery even said how “on edge” Barry the driver was and how he wouldn’t sit down to let us enjoy our stay.
This was a terrible tour and I will not recommend them or go with them again.

Hi Jess, you missed a few things!
The Tour Busses are modern, with 13 adjustable cloth seats. The insides are cleaned and sanitised before each tour with products like Glen 20. Hand sanitizer, wipes and face masks are available.
We arrive at The first boutique winery at 10.00am for a private sit down tasting. The next winery is at 11.00am, followed by the Hunter Distillery (gin and vodka) at 12.00pm.
Lunch at a great local cafe is from 12.45pm - 1.50pm.
We visit the next boutique winery at 2.00pm and the last winery at 3.00pm.
Currently everyone on our Bus 1 and Bus 2 receives a free assorted cheese tasting tub.
Larger half day groups are offered an extra winery at no charge.
We visit the Cheese and Chocolate shops at 4.00pm and each passenger receives a small assorted chocolate sample. The tour winds up at approximately 4.30pm.
Our uniformed drivers are not kill joys, they want everyone to experience a safe, happy and informative day.
They do however try to keep the day running smoothly and on time.
Jess, we hope to see your smiling face again soon!

Bruce was very accommodating of our slightly difficult pickup location which we found very convenient and appreciated. The day was generally okay although some of the 'wineries' were a little disappointing, in particular, The Garden Cellars which was more of a shop than a vineyard. The lady who hosted us there proceeded to tell us that these were all the wines from failed wineries - not very enticing. Barry was a nice guide but I had read elsewhere that people felt rushed along, and although not a huge problem, he was pacing a little at the last winery (which was easily our favorite) to the extent that even our host at the winery felt uncomfortable and rushed and this soured our day. We had a nice day generally but I would probably not recommend this tour to any of my friends.

I would highly recommend Bruce and Best Tour to anyone wanting an awesome day out in the vineyards. Bruce was fantastic and each of the wineries we visited were great. We had lunch included and it was delicious. I can not say enough good things about the day, my friends and I had a fantastic day!

We’ve just arrived back at our hotel from our full day wine tour with our fantastic driver Ross. Ross was an absolute treasure and took great care of us on our first ever wine tour in the Hunter Valley. Thank you for such an awesome experience - we will be recommending you to all our friends and family.

Tony our driver made this tour a fantastic day. From the moment he picked us up, drove us around parts of Newcastle then onto 5 wineries, Smelly Cheese shop and chocolate shop until he dropped us back at our accomodation almost 9 hours later he was chirpy, informative and above all friendly. Could not fault this winery tour. I was on a mission to pick up some goodies from Pukara Estate. While the tour didnt take this in- Tony went out of his way to find an outlet for me and took us there. That's personalised service.

We spent the day with Bruce as our driver and guide, and I was blown away by his hospitality, knowledge and true passion for what he does! He puts in a lot of thought into which wineries he takes you to, and wants to create a truly unique experience. We visited 5 very different, but equally as amazing wineries and vineyards. We got a true taste of the different types of vineyards in the area from boutique to organic to large. We enjoyed a lovely 2 course meal at one of the vineyards. We ended the day with a cheese tasting and a chocolate tasting, as well. I really felt like I had a well-rounded experience of the Hunter Valley. I highly recommend booking with Best Tour. It's a smaller tour which makes for a more personal experience, and you get to know the people in your tour group. Bruce is one of the best tour guides I've had as a traveler, and I'm so glad we booked with him!

I have a group of 10 people at the moment could be more, wandering if you pick up and drop off at Lake Munmorah, what costs are and include, also what tours you recommend! Am looking at Saturday 10th March?!
Written 26 February 2018
Hi Rebecca, the 10th of March is fine. A Hunter Valley wine tasting tour with private sit down tastings at 4 wineries, a stand up tasting at The Hunter Distillery, and a visit to The Chee & Chocolate Shops is $85.00pp without lunch or $120.00pp with a 2 course restaurant lunch at Villa Du Pays.
Regards;
Bruce.
