Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We ( our family of 17 grandchildren and 5 adult children and their spouses), have just spent 4 days at The Entrance. The lake is an absolute disgrace to Central coast council. Because the entrance to Tuggerah lake has become virtually closed, there is very little tidal flow now, ( it needs dredging badly). The lake is now just like swamp, and smells like it. Where the pelican feeding takes place there is scum floating on the water, because of almost non existent tidal flow. What was once a beautiful holiday destination is now a smelly place where I would not even swim. We stayed at Two Shores Holiday Village which is about 2kms from the lake entrance, and the water was even worse, ( no fault of the holiday park). Although the park has a 3 star rating, the cabin we had left a lot to be desired. Maybe 2.5? Central Coast Council, you are a disgrace.
The Entrance town itself is also not the place it was 20 years ago, with empty shops and a delapidated dirty look to it . A lot of the permanent residents have that disheveled appearance about them that matches the town. We won’t be back.

The Entrance is being destroyed by mainly Sydney siders that have absolutely no respect for the environment. They leave their rubbish all over the beaches , lake edges in the bushes and can be seen putting undersized fish into plastic bags and hiding them. The poor locals that live here have to try and clean up after all the pigs that visit. I have no doubt they’ll be trying to build a Mosque in the middle of town. If you visit this place do the right thing and take your Rubbish to a bin it isn’t a filthy suburb of Sydney and locals don’t want all your rubbish left laying everywhere.

I agree with a few previous reviewers. We booked a week’s break in The Entrance but it was so tacky with many closed shops and businesses in the centre of town, that we left early. We only survived as long as we did by taking daily trips out of town to surrounding areas.
The lake was dirty with rubbish floating around the edge. There was a very unpleasant smell surrounding it. The esplanade is covered with bird droppings. Many buildings were run down and needed maintenance. The whole place was depressing.
We certainly won’t return.

I remember a few years ago when we last visited the main town centre of The Entrance it was alive with activity.
On this occasion we found large numbers of shops closed and buildings looking abandoned.
There were only a few restaurants open and there was hardly anyone about. At least it was easy to find a park and we did find a great Vietnamese Restaurant.Maybe it is still recovering from Covid, but it was very sad.

The Entrance doesn't have the same feeling that it used to. Lots of shops are closed or struggling. Pelican feeding is no longer happening. Feels more like a quiet backwater than the popular tourist destination it used to be. It's still beautiful to walk along the waterfront, swim in the sea or pools, and wander around the rock pools. Also popular for fishing especially at low tide. But we went up to Terrigal afterwards and it was much more alive with more great cafes/restaurants/shops, the new board walk, beach etc. So we'd recommend Terrigal over the Entrance unless you're keen on fishing.

Picnic in park. Plenty of grass to sit on a rug. BBQs available but always busy.
Fairground rides very expensive, its a joke really how expensive. Great day spent with family and friends. Pelican feeding at 3pm.

I feel for the shops that are still there giving it a go. Some lovely dress shops. DC cafe and pub are great most other business looked dirty and run down or not even open. it could do with a REALLY good clean up. Miss the days of picnicking there as a teen and taking my kids when little to get fish and chips and visit the carnival.

Review of The Entrance Town Centre
Reviewed today
Take the kids and their swimmers. There are rides in the park.
Lots of grass for a picnic or to sit and eat your fish and chips. Do remember to Slip Slop Slap. Dog friendly on a lead and please pickup the poo. Don't swim in the channel. It has a rip. There is a free swimming pool at the baths. Lots of markets on certain weekends. Welcome and have fun.

Five years since we last visited and very disappointed with what we saw.
The old picture theatre boarded up but generally the whole place looked very tired and could do with a tidy up. Overall we were less than impressed.
