Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited Terrigal for a weekend. The beach is nice enough during the day, pretty quiet, not too many waves, some markets were on too. Nice to have a coffee at the waterfront or stroll along the beach - which is why after a Saturday night dinner we though it would be a good idea to walk back to our apartment on the beach. It was 8:30pm and the beach was FULL of juveniles completely off their faces, their behaviour indicating more than booze. They would not have been more than 15yo and there was, I kid you not, at least 50 of them. We saw a couple of young girls vomiting, another girl was trying to talk to us while being barely able to put a sentence together. All within 100m from the shopfronts, restaurants and families with small kids walking around. A truly bizarre experience.

There's an easy-to-miss sign just near the surf club warning you not to swim here after heavy rains. The beach experiences high levels of faecal contamination during such times. Ergh!!!
The problem is the massive overdevelopment of the suburb, including some illegal plumbing hacks that have included toilets connected to storm water. Council continues to investigate. Don't swim here if you value your health.

Nice beach. And plenty of cool cafes and restaurants to choose from. We visited on a Saturday and there were really cool markets to browse on the beachfront. Followed up by an awesome eggs benny at Bellyfish Cafe (see review). Can't wait to return.

Live going to Terrigal Beach. It is always a hive of activity. We were there in the morning and there were people training on surf skis and the very interesting outriggers. They were getting a really great ride in a relative small wave.
There is a cafe at the surf club and the views from the beach are lovely.
Opposite the beach there is shopping centre with lots of cafes and restaurants. Something for everyone!

Terrigal is a great place to visit. Although it is only a short drive from Sydney, it immediately feels like you are on holiday. The beach is beautiful, great for walks and is family friendly. There is a wide selection of cafes and restaurants that offer lovely food with friendly staff.

Beach was not clean and very bad smell. Evening walk in the pedestrian is fine but the walk in beach area is not clean. Lots of plastic and liquor bottle waste in the beach shore .... There are common place where you can use sports equipment in the park ... Kids can play near pedestrian walk area but not in the beach shore.

Took the walk along the cliff tops and the sea views stretching to the horizon were spectacular! So much happening near the shore- snorkeling, scuba diving, swimmers, fishermen, others boating., dog walkers. Very pleasant walks along the beach. Exciting place for family outings and picnics.

I stayed at the Crown Plaza Hotel in a high room. The views of the Terrigal beach are breathtaking. The most peaceful, relaxing and wonderful place to stay and relax, Terrigal Beach and Crown Plaza Hotel!

Terrigal Beach is not far from Sydney. Perhaps due to the real estate boom, there are quiet houses lined up. I visited during the Australian winter, so there were not many people swimming, but the cafes and restaurants along the sea were bustling. Even in winter, it's a great place to take a walk along the seaside.

Can you see plankton at night time in Terrigal? If so what time in the year?

There may be but I haven't looked for Plankton at night, so I don't know.
